European Oak  - Quercus Petrae

CHARACTERISTICS

Wood description:
Oak wood is very robust and hard, its colour is brownish-yellow. Its growth rings are well defined and on the radial surfaces there are some clear wide rays. The “ray fleck” ( medullary rays which score the radial surfaces ) is a common specific characteristic of oak wood.
Heartwood is particularly resistant even in the worse weather conditions ( strong alternation between dry and humid ) and to the wearing of time. The tannin juice of oak wood is known and credited to lend aroma to wine fermentation. European oak from Slavonia is deemed to be the best specie.

Coming into contact with ferrous metals in humidity conditions it is inclined to get stained;
Possible localized grain deviations.

Working properties:
Sawing: trouble free, but with special attention to its considerable hardness;
