CHARACTERISTICS


Wood description:
Strong and quite heavy wood, appearance is clear, its colour varies from yellow-reddish to brown, it gets brighter after drying. The annual rings are really thin and with their brightness they give a silky aspect to the radial surfaces. There is no distinction between sapwood and heartwood.

Histological structure:
Grain: straight, sometimes wavy;
Texture: close fine to fine.

Characteristic defects:
Not very durable;
Collapse and checks due to moisture local concentrations;
Inclined to get stained during drying.

Permeabilty:
Impermeable.

Working properties:
Sawing: easy;
Drying: easy, mediud to quick, some risk of colouring;
Planing: easy;
Glueing: good;
Nailing and screwing: easy;
Finishing: easy.



Main uses:
Furniture and architectural joinery;
Domestic wood ware, flooring;
Decorative veneering;
Playthings, kitchenware;
Excelent turnery wood.
