Wood description:
Light and strong, tulipwood is often used as low cost alternative to walnut and cherry. Distinction between sapwood and heartwood is evident.
Sapwood: creamy-white;
Heartwood: yellow-brownish to olive colour.

Histological structure:
Grain: straight;
Texture: average to fine.

Characteristic defects:
Inclined to warp;
Subject to stains.

Permeabilty:
permeable sapwood and impermeable heartwood.

Working properties:
Sawing: trouble-free;
Drying: easy if slow;
Planing: with care;
Glueing: easy;
Nailing and screwing: easy;
Finishing: easy.

Furniture for interiors;
Packaging;
Playthings.
