Wood description:
American cherry wood, as the ash wood, shows a darker colour then the European one and also in this case, the American has a lighter weight. Heartwood varies from red-brown to dark brown. It has small gum resin pockets.

Characteristic defects:
Inclined to warp;
Colour variations.
Permeabilty:
permeable sapwood and impermeable heartwood.
Working properties:
Sawing: trouble-free;
Drying: easy if slow;
Planing: trouble-free;
Glueing: difficult with hot glues;
Nailing and screwing: easy;
Finishing: easy.
