CARATTERISTICHE




Wood description:
Red Elm is fairly heavy, hard and stiff with excellent bending and shock resistance.
Its wood has a greyish-white to light brown narrow sapwood, with heartwood that is reddish brown to dark brown in colour.

Histological structure:
Grain: straight, sometimes interlocked;
Texture: coarse.

Characteristic defects:
Mineral violet stripes with not uncommon bluish-green stains.

Permeability:
average permeable.

Working properties:
Sawing: trouble-free;
Drying: easy with minimum degrade;
Planing: trouble-free;
Glueing: easy;
Nailing and screwing: easy;
Finishing: easy.



Main uses:
Furniture;
Carpentry for interiors, flooring, ceiling, doors … ;
Coffins.

Modulus of elasticity : 10.274 MPa
Hardness : 3825 N

Specific weight:
dried 580 kg/ m³.
