CARATTERISTICHE




Wood description:
Abura wood shows a pink-greyish colour that varies to brown with darker stripes. It gets lighter on sapwood even though there is not a marked difference with heartwood.

Histological structure:
Grain: straight; sometimes helicoidal;
Texture: quite fine and uniform.

Characteristic defects:
Occasionally rot heart or yellow stains;
Checks;
Considerably vulnerable to wood-boring insects.

Permeabilty:
average permeable

Working properties:
Sawing: easy, but with special care to the silica content which wears down the saws;
Drying: from medium to quick, some risk of warp and checks;
Planing: to take into considartion the silica content;
Glueing: easy;
Nailing and screwing: easy;
Finishing: easy.

Interior carpentry;
Furniture;
Turnery works;
Plywood
